Dried Elder Flowers
Elder Berries

Elder trees produce wonderful white flower heads in mid-summer and black berries.

Elderflowers have a heady sweet, floral aroma and have a muscatel and floral-sweet taste. Elder flowers are used to make herbal teas and elderflower cordial, which can be used as a soft drink or drizzled over fruit for abn extra fragrant sweetener to unripe raspberries and strawberries purchased in larger grocery outlets. Elderflowers also make delicious sparkling champagne-style country wines.

Elderberries taste somewhat like blackcurrant. Elder berries are used for making jams, wines and go well in apple pies. Elderberry wine is a good and tasty country wine.
