Coconut is one of the most useful of all fruits. Coconut milk is a refreshing and nutritious drink and is also used in curries, especially those of southern India, Sri Lanka and Malaysia. Coconut meat can be eaten fresh or eaten dried, called desiccated coconut and used in baking and sweet making. Most of the coconut meat is used to make copra, then extracted for coconut oil. The sweet sap of the coconut palm is fermented to make arrack, a potent coconut liquor.
