Cassava or Manioc is a starchy tuber from America. Cassava is used to make tapioca, which is exported in pearl or flaked forms and used for desserts and confectionery. Cassava flour is used in cakes and pies. Cassava is also processed to make a starch based powder, sold as arrowroot.
