Bread Dumplings are a group of central European dumpling. In Bavaria, they are knödl, in Austria knödel, and in the Czech Republic knedliky. These dumplings are made with stale bread or a yeast dough and may be either savoury or sweet to taste. In England, Norfolk Dumplings fall into this type, being a boiled yeast dough that is eaten with meat broths and stews, or served with sugar, honey or treacle as a pudding.
